At Wake Audiology, we are excited to offer cochlear implant services in Wake Forest, NC.
Cochlear implants are surgically implanted devices for patients with moderate to profound hearing loss who no longer benefit from hearing aids. They are designed to mimic the function of the inner ear (cochlea). They replace the function of damage sensory hair cells inside the inner ear to help provide more clarity than what hearing aids can provide. During a cochlear implant evaluation, we will determine if you are a good candidate, explain how cochlear implants work, and how implants can address your specific challenges. We reserve 90 minutes for this visit to ensure all of your questions are answered.
Once implanted we can perform the initial activation, and provide on-going care and programming for years to come. We currently partner with Dr. McElveen at Carolina Ear and Hearing Clinic in Raleigh, NC to perform the implant procedure. We will help you navigate the process and know what to expect each step of the way.
Cochlear implantation is a covered service by many insurance providers including Medicare. Some follow-up visits may not be covered however, can be provided in an affordable care plan.
If you or a loved one are interested in learning more about cochlear implants and how they can improve not only your hearing abilities, but overall quality of life, contact our office.
